Volunteer Opportunities

BE A CATECHIST IN OUR FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM!

General Responsibilities:

The catechist will provide quality instruction to the students at the grade level assigned. Being aware of the call to proclaim the Good News, the catechist will enrich and guide the spiritual formation of the students by witnessing as a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

Qualities:

1. Practices the Catholic faith and is actively involved in parish life.

2. Has an understanding of and supports the teachings of the Catholic Church.
3. Shows a concern for ongoing personal spiritual growth.

4. Maintains a positive attitude when relating to others.

5. Relates well to the assigned age level.

6. Holds Archdiocesan catechist certification or is working toward it.

READERS AT SUNDAY MASS

If you have been thinking about serving the Lord and our parish, you might consider serving as a Reader at Sunday Mass. Readers, sometimes call Lectors, proclaim the scripture readings at Sunday Mass, and sometimes announce the petitions of the General Intercessions that follow the homily.

Readers must be practicing Catholics who faithfully attend Sunday Mass, have received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and be at least 18 years of age. If they are married, they must be in a marriage recognized by the Catholic Church.

There will be a training session for those preparing to serve as Readers on Saturday morning, October 30, at the Archdiocesan Center in Newark. We will leave OLM at 8 am and should return by 1 pm. Current Readers are also invited to attend this session.


EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

If you have been thinking about serving the Lord and our parish, you might consider serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Sunday Mass. Extraordinary Ministers assist in distributing Holy Communion at Sunday Mass, and sometimes bring Holy Communion to the sick or the elderly who are unable to come to Mass.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion must be practicing Catholics who faithfully attend Sunday Mass, have received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and be at least 18 years of age. If they are married, they must be in a marriage recognized by the Catholic Church.
