The Feast Day of our parish patron, Our Lady of Mercy, will be celebrated in our parish on the weekend of September 17 and 18. We will have a novena of prayer in preparation for that feast. The novena prayers will be prayed in place of the intercessions during our Masses beginning this Thursday, September 8. If you are unable to attend all the days of the novena to Our Lady of Mercy, we encourage you to pray the following novena prayers at home.

Almighty and merciful God, hear these prayers that I now offer and those of my fellow parishioners as we prepare to celebrate the feast day of our parish.

Lord God, may the Church, like Mary, always rejoice in your goodness and powerfully proclaim to all people the great things you have done. Lord have mercy.

Lord God, may Christians discern and follow your will, may we heed the words that Mary spoke to the waiters at the Marriage Feast of Cana, “Do whatever he tells you.” Lord have mercy.

Lord God, may peace flow into the areas of our world made barren by war, violence, and hatred, may there be an outpouring of mercy and forgiveness. Lord have mercy.

Lord God, may those who proclaim Mary to be Our Lady of Mercy, embody the corporal works of mercy; may we feed the hungry, visit the sick, clothe the naked, and shelter the homeless. Lord have mercy.

Lord God, may those who honor Our Lady of Mercy, practice the spiritual works of mercy; may we instruct the ignorant, counsel the doubtful, forgive willingly, and comfort those in sorrow. Lord have mercy.

Lord God, may our parish be faithful to its name, may it be a welcoming, merciful place for those seeking the truth and for those who feel unworthy of your love. Lord have mercy.

Lord God, may those dealing with illness, depression or addiction, and those weakened by age, find hope in you, may we stand by them as Mary stood by the cross of your Son. Lord have mercy.

Lord God, may the deceased of my family and of my parish, be granted a place of joy at your heavenly table with Mary and all the saints. Lord have mercy.

Loving God, through the intercession of Our Lady of Mercy, hear these prayers that I have offered, and the prayers of all those who form the parish community named in her honor. Empower us to be faithful Christians who hasten the coming of your kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
