October 3, 2021 – Pastor’s Column

Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy,

Fr. Marty JacintoI hope you are healthy, happy, and doing well.

Last weekend, we had a very nice celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy. In the name of our staff, I thank Kathleen Pormento and the members of our Parish Pastoral Council for facilitating everything that needed to be done to make the festivities successful and beautiful.

The cooperation from all the different ministries was overwhelming. Truly this parish is so blessed because everyone contributes and works together with love and passion, using their stewardship of time, talent, and treasure. You show your faith and love of God by your actions. We truly are a spirit-filled community. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Mercy, continue to guide all of us and intercede for us so we may receive even more grace and blessings from God.

You may have noticed that the monitors in church have increased in size. The previous ones were replaced with larger ones because some people had difficulty seeing the worship material projected on the previous monitors. The parish provided the new monitors. The other ones, which were donated by the family of Alfred Gatchalian, will be utilized in our faith formation program. They will be installed in our media room on the third floor of the school.

I want to let you know about the future painting of the church interior. I ask your understanding and patience as we keep trying to make our worship space more comfortable and beautiful. Also, I want to use this opportunity to tell you now that we are in need of our own scissor lift. If we had one, we would not need to rent a lift each time we replace the light bulbs in the church. So, I am knocking on the door of your generous hearts and thank you in advance.

Lastly, please pay attention to the content of our parish bulletin. We try to keep you informed of what is happening in our parish . The “OLM Welcome” video is now on our website www.olmnj.org and Facebook page facebook.com/ourladyofmercyjerseycityofficial/. Please check it out. I thank Micah De Castro and Jayvee Dacasin for producing this video and making it available to our community.

Please continue to support our parish with your prayers and generosity. God bless you all!

Father Marty
